Jessie's Having a Girl!
Emily, Nicole and I met Jessie almost two years ago in bible study, and instantly fell in love with her. Sweet Jess is one of these women that was born to be a momma, so when we heard she was expecting, much celebrating took place!
Not only is this precious baby a miracle from heaven, but Jessie's story is a miracle in and of itself.
In May of 2011, on Jessie's wedding day, one entire side of her body went numb and she was unresponsive.
At 26 years of age, on her wedding day, Jessie was having a stroke.
An incredible test for this (almost) newly married couple.
Praise God, she miraculously came through and they married a few short days thereafter.
She is an incredible fighter.
Jessie and her husband moved here from Minnesota, so being away from home, we wanted to make sure she felt as loved and supported as much as we possibly could.
Nicole, Emily and I had the honor of throwing this special momma-to-be an Owl Themed Shower.
(You can also see Nicole's shower here!)
(Ps-We want to encourage you, even if you are on a tight budget like we are, with a little hard work, creativity and a lot of love, you can make your momma-to-be feel special :)
Please see below for DIY ideas on throwing a fancy and fun baby shower!
These tissue puffs are simple and fun, but added a touch of whimsy to welcome Jessie and our guests!
DIY: You'd never guess where I found this fancy frame :)
Our Momma-To-Be and Guest of Honor arriving!!
How cute is she!?
This was our momma-to-be's corsage :)
Game 1: Have every guest wear a name tag and give them 3 clips with random Momma-related words. When someone catches you saying one of the words, they can take your clip! Whoever ends up with the most, wins!! :)
Isn't our Jess a beauty!!!???
Here are a few pictures of Jessie's special day!
Everything you see here is hand-crafted, and made with love :)
DIY: Our take-home favors -- Chocolate dipped marshmallow, inserted into tiny, adorable pink polka dot boxes!
Each woman also received a mini pink nail polish and a Mary Kay Lotion, compliments of Ms. Emily Enockson!
This "Wishing Tree" gave our guests a chance to share a piece of their heart with our guest of honor.
DIY: This tree was made from a dogwood plant at my mother-in-law's front yard.
We spray-painted it white, added twinkle lights and put them in a cute container!
These mason jars were also used at the Moonlit Movie night we had last fall!
Read more about it here!
Another shot of Jessie's "Wishing Tree"
DIY: This wreath I found at Marshall's on sale in their after Christmas section! I bought it last January when we heard the great news!
Just spray painted it for this party to go with our owl theme!
DIY: These nature-themed wreaths were left over frames from my Grandmother and Reindeer Moss from the Dollar Tree Store! :)
These wreaths costed $3 to make! Yay! Check out the Tutorial here!
Stay tuned for a tutorial on how to make this banner as well!
And, our quite feminine owl-themed table scape!
Chocolate galore for Jess -- her one request :)
Game #2: "My Water Broke!" Every guest receives a baby in an ice cube for their drink. When the ice cube melts, the first to yell "My Water Broke" wins :)
And a few personal photos with our precious friends and family :)
