I was so incredibly blessed to be a part of this sweet family's memory making moment this past weekend.
5 generations: From 2 years old to 96!
Precious little Lia was thrilled to see so many colors on one large palate.
She knew every one...she's two! Brilliant, just like her mama :)
I so enjoyed getting to know each lady!
They all arrived early to get their coffees and soft drinks!
Then we threw on our aprons and the class began...
To start, we discussed famous impressionistic painters, their use of color and technique.
Then we began to throw up paint onto the canvas! We gessoed the entire surface to prep our painting surface.
Each artist chose thier own flower vase to use as a visual, but they were encouraged to use it as a guideline only. I requested that they think beyond the vase and changed the colors as they pleased. The textures, the shapes.
We discussed the importance of using texture for interest in our paintings and began building our backgrounds with color.
Even Lia painted and she inspired us all!
Its amazing to watch a child paint!
No inhibition, just pure joy.
And the beauty that comes from pure joy...something to be admired.
I had brought sweet Lia a princess balloon in case she needed a break...
Oh my word!! That face!!
How can her mother ever tell her no? :) Such a doll baby.
Next we began to build subject matter into our paintings.
It was truly inspiring to watch how each woman viewed their vase so very differently.
Such a celebration of individuality!
And another of Lia...just because I adore her. :)
Finally, we added a personal touch and added tiny Lia's hand prints to mama and grandma's canvases.
Such an honor to share this moment with this lovely family.
Some women you just instantly connect with. Mandy has been that for me.
A beautiful soul.
