This week we did Self Portraits!
It was a blast to watch these kids make silly faces in their mirrors, smiling in a "crinkle your nose" kind of way, as they examined their ears, noses, eyes and freckles :)
There is nothing sweeter than watching a child enjoy what they see in the mirror...
(Versus the sad reality that happens as we get into our teen years and beyond and we start to despise the silliest little things we see in the mirror.)
At what point does that happen to us and why?
This lesson brought pure joy to these kiddos and I adored every minute.
Drawn with oil pastels, colored with chalk pastels and painted with water and pastels.
At the end of class, we had a free draw session!
I LOVE what each child created on their own. Funky designs, castles, puppies...the creativity was endless.
PS--Try to find something you love about YOUR face when you look in the mirror today ;)
